On August 4th, 2016 a state-wide charity bowling event took place to raise monies for a variety of local, state and national organizations including; West Virginia Realtor Relief Fund, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other organizations each local Board or Realtors® had designated.
Locally, the FAIRMONT BOARD OF REALTORS® hosted their event at Valley Worlds of Fun, in Pleasant Valley, with more than 30 bowlers participating. Through sponsorships, donations and event raffles, FBOR was able to collect more than $4200.00 for the event. After basic expenses (venue and food) the total amount raised for charity was $3782.03. "Of the funds raised for this event, 50% ($1891.03) was donated locally to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marion County (See photo below of check presentation to Stacey Spadafore, Co-Director); 25% ($945.50) given to WVRRF (West Virginia Realtor Relief Fund) and 25% ($945.50) went to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America." stated Tim Toothman, 2016 Board of Realtors® President.
"I am honored and humbled by the continued generosity of our Members and Affiliates," said Toothman. "We set a realistic and conservative goal of $3000 in the weeks leading up to the event and we certainly wouldn't have been able to have the success we had, without the support of our Sponsors and especially our Board Members & Affiliates. Because of everyone's effort we were able to far exceed that original goal, by collecting more than $4000." Toothman concluded saying, "it was a great social event for those who participated and while none of us will be running off to join the PBA Tour anytime soon, we all knew it was a worthwhile event and great opportunity for us to give back to the communities we all live and work. In fact, because of the success of this event we are looking at doing some other similar events in the future."
