In December, the FAIRMONT BOARD OF REALTORS® hosted their annual Christmas Event for its Members & Affiliates. While many of the annual traditions such as the toy collection for the Salvation Army, the Installation of new Officers and Board of Directors Members, and of course the Holiday meal remained-- there were some changes too. The event was emceed by Rita Robinson, a retired healthcare professional and local 'storyteller' and comedian.
This year's event was themed "Celebrating the Season by Giving Back" and focused on raising money through a large raffle event, in order to support a local child (Simon Rohaly) who just before Christmas in 2015, at the age of two and a half; was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma cancer.
Members, Affiliates, Community Businesses and private individuals donated a wide variety of Raffle items for the Event. Other monetary donations were also accepted to either purchase additional raffle items or to be added to the final donation given to the Rohaly family on behalf of the FAIRMONT BOARD OF REALTORS®. The funds donated to the Rohaly family were designated to help defray the significant medical expenses incurred for Simon's medical treatments.
At the event, attendees could purchase as many raffle tickets as they desired, then place their tickets into any or all of the individual raffle item's drawing container for a chance to win that item. Tickets were then drawn throughout the evening until each item was raffled. The event was a tremendous success and because of everyone's generosity and support a check in the amount of $2,746.06 was presented to the Simon and his family by Melissa Clelland, Owner/Broker of Dream Home Properties & the 2016 Christmas Party Committee Chairperson.
